| About Us // Mission Statement
We aim to enhance young peoples experience of sport and physical activity at home and abroad.
Formed in November 2005, the Boost Coach Academy is a comprehensive coach development programme for students at Loughborough University and College. Since its inauguration the programme has grown considerably, accommodating for over 40 coaches, delivering high quality sport at more than 30 schools, clubs, universities and colleges to hundreds of children and adults EVERY week.
Aspirations
• To provide opportunities for students to progress along the coaching pathway
• To enable students to gain experience of practical delivery within the community, enhancing the link between the University and the community
• To enable young people to take part in sport in a safe, structured and fun environment where they can express themselves in a positive way; to be encouraged and given the opportunity to achieve whatever level they aspire to reach.
How we achieve our aims
Our objectives are achieved first and foremost by high quality coach education covering all aspects of the coaching continuum, and secondly by quality delivery within rugby clubs and both primary and secondary education. This delivery is made by our young coaches, facilitated by teachers and club coaches ensuring that children always have the best available support regardless of where they play.
A key aspect in achieving our aims is our commitment to developing rugby abroad, particularly within the West Indies where we annually place students either as part of our exchange programme or as permanent Rugby Development Officers.
The Boost Coach Academy is open to all and does not discriminate against any individual who wishes to take part in the project regardless of experience, course being studied, ability or any other factor. All that is asked of the student coach is that they are dedicated to the programme, remain professional throughout their involvement, and conduct themselves to the high standards set by Boost, Loughborough University and Loughborough Sport. All Boost coaches are required to complete an Enhanced CRB disclosure and provide proof of identity to ensure the safety of young people.
